Methods used were workshops, a live radio broadcast and surveys.  The curriculum bridged generational communication gaps and stressed the importance of spirituals, hymns, gospel, and contemporary Christian music using techniques developed to educate and stimulate creativity. The author contends that the black church should adapt to the language of youth via Hip Hop to develop rap music as a resource. However, the black church is in danger of becoming disconnected from its historical and theological underpinnings.  This study helps black pastors and others involved in the music ministry to become more sensitive to issues related to the use of music.  The results of a sampling of area pastors and musicians revealed a need for greater pastoral leadership.
