The purpose of this study is to help others know how they can effectively reach a people's group and thus plant churches amongst indigenous people. The gospel had made significant impact on Anyii yet some have rejected the gospel, remaining in pre-Christian spirituality or trained to serve at the mmosoe shrine. This study explains this phenomenon and shows how pre-Christian spirituality has prepared Anyii for the gospel. Anyii believe in the one true self-revealing creator-God, this research concludes that Nyamea pili is the same as Yahweh, the Father of Jesus Christ. With an interface between Christianity and Anyii primal religion, the gospel, as their creator's hope for Anyii, will be enhanced by a Bible translation and mother-tongue interpretation in Anyii. To the God who speaks all languages, Anyii now ask for him to speak directly to them in a vernacular Anyii Bible."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131535423832064,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:49:02.639Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:40:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:52:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"367ed983-5234-4527-af48-1204b316b8d2","accessControl_ssim":["67d74845-e2fa-4f89-aa24-1b3cacb65b73"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Inculturation of the gospel among the Agikuyu of Kenya"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:40:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:42:41Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cfd77b9c-528c-4847-b6fd-75df59d6f86e"],"hasLease_ssim":["feede8a4-c999-46b0-a93b-2c66411bf446"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Norman E Thomas"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"location_tesim":["Africa"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Njenga Kariuki"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["African American interpretations of Jesus Christ","Interfaith relations","Africans--Religion","Christianity","Christianity and culture","Kikuyu (African people)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Christianity among the Agikuyu still remains highly Western creating a cultural dissonance. Employing anthropological and biblical perspectives, this project analyzes four religious beliefs and practices that prevent acceptance of Christianity among Ashantis, finding that a major problem is the traditional Ashanti concept of God as remote, unapproachable, and unavailable in times of crisis. As a means of interpreting the African religious experience to American congregations through the interaction of research, lecture and dialogue, a workshop was included and explained. Ethnographs, mission histories, African textbooks, and interpretive studies were researched, courses were taken in subjects pertinent to the thesis-project with prominent missiologists, and finally, attention was given to what the history of religion in Africa suggests for the present and the future, for the author and the larger church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128297868886016,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:57:35.065Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:11:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:42:16Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6f8c34ca-ce12-474b-abba-7a6673229a1c","accessControl_ssim":["f4a5cb32-7587-405c-a182-298aaa7d0f7e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Designing, teaching, and evaluating a course on Christianity and world view at African Bible College, Lilongwe, Malawi"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:11:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:24:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b81e6495-1c7a-4748-9b2c-c08ac16bcc7c"],"hasLease_ssim":["1c48c627-ad12-4154-b323-375b551f21e6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul G Hiebert"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Brown, Walter L."],"keyword_tesim":["World view"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"],"subject_tesim":["Africans--Religion","African Bible College (Lilongwe, Malawi)","Christianity","Interfaith relations"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This is a project deigned to teach world view issues to students at African Bible College. It includes contributions from various Christian writers, and their perspectives show the contrast between the biblical ideal and the reality of Western norms. Chapter four gives the historical, theological, and sociological background. Chapter five outlines the methodology. It discusses expected outcomes and the avenues to getting there. Chapter six, dealing with findings, is based upon the evaluation done by the students at the end of the course. The appendices include lesson plans for each day, the exams, and the evaluation sheet.
