These challenges can include financial and health concerns, future living arrangements, final wishes, and discovering the ultimate value of one's own life. Tragically, however, widows, widowers, the never-married and divorcees are often left to contend with such issues alone. Meanwhile they may have adult children who will also be deeply affected by these issues, and are able to help. But that help rarely comes. Instead silence, ignorance, and misunderstanding prevail between the generations regarding the realities that will impact them both. This project is an examination of these issues and the reasons that prevent aging parents and their adult children from discussing them constructively. This report proposes a composite educational methodology using Vygotskyan and Jungian human development theory can provide education care that nurtures senior adult formational maturity in relation to death, dying and bereavement issues. The results indicated that there was such a relationship.  In other words, more spiritual maturity meant a more positive coping with the challenges of aging.  Spiritual maturity was determined by measuring a set of spiritual attitudes and spiritual practices. It begins with background information regarding population statistics, physical, psychological, behavioral and spiritual characteristics and living situations of older persons. The author reviews sections of Luke and suggests insights regarding spiritual meanings of the texts for the two populations. She reports on 'Spirituality and Aging' projects with older persons from each population. She responds to the questions regarding spiritual implications of the characteristics of the two populations.  She finds that Scripture is meaningful to the two populations and that they benefit from projects like those she develops. The author offers her reflections as a prelude to a spirituality of aging, as insights for ministers and older persons and as encouragement to older
