These challenges can include financial and health concerns, future living arrangements, final wishes, and discovering the ultimate value of one's own life. Tragically, however, widows, widowers, the never-married and divorcees are often left to contend with such issues alone. Meanwhile they may have adult children who will also be deeply affected by these issues, and are able to help. But that help rarely comes. Instead silence, ignorance, and misunderstanding prevail between the generations regarding the realities that will impact them both. This project is an examination of these issues and the reasons that prevent aging parents and their adult children from discussing them constructively. Prayer is both traditional and transformational, not offending the staunchest traditionalist or the most starry-eyed transformationalist.  It is perhaps the best natural construct for religious identity, understanding and development. From the viewpoint of change theology, all of these developments may be the manifestation of a natural process of aging.  What would happen if instead of resisting these changes, we processed them as stepping stones to a new spiritual maturity? These adults constitute the leading edge of the Boomer generation (approximately ages 50 to 61) in transition to McGregor Baptist Church's Senior Adult Ministry. The project director's professional goals included research. The research focused on current resources, strategies, and insights available concerning the Boomer generation as it becomes a new wave in older adult ministry. The research helped to establish benchmarks and standards upon which to build. The project director also developed a strategy for ministry to emerging senior adults using a strategy team. The research begins with an examination of nature of retirement in the church and society and how that has brought about the 'rise and fall' of the theory of disengagement.  The remedy presented is for ministry with and for the aging to be grounded in the Christian view of aging.  Aging is then examined in Christian perspectives, through an examination of aging in the Bible, Christian theological tradition, and contemporary society.  Chapter 4 reports the act of ministry itself, a life-review process \u0026 ten class sessions to be used by a pastor to nurture \u0026 equip aging individuals \u0026 groups to remain engaged in the worship and work of the church. Chapter 5 is appraisal of the act based upon the responses of two persons who participated in the act of ministry, interpretation of data collected, \u0026 an appraisal in retrospect \u0026 prospect. Four seminars held in the fall of 1986 were designed to explore how people age and how adult children can cope effectively with their parents in the new relationship which aging creates. The seminars included one session on understanding the aging process, another on relating to aging parents, a third on caring for aging parents and a fourth on available community resources.  At the conclusion of the project the group decided they would like to have a continuing support group that would meet
