Three pastoral diagnostic variables - communion, repentance, and grace or gratefulness - of the seven pastoral diagnostic variables designated by Paul W Pruyser are found to be significant themes in the life stories of these recovering alcoholics and are used effectively as counseling parameters. Four of these alcoholics in long-term sobriety are interviewed in oral and written sessions. Two of them in short-term sobriety are seen in either short- or long-term counseling. Thematic creative stories and the Pastoral Diagnostic Inventory are helpful tools in clarifying these themes in the counseling of these two alcoholics."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717703926153216,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:22:31.016Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:17:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"340f4727-dd94-4b66-98e8-cf004fa09ded","accessControl_ssim":["18265d57-5834-4dcb-b024-428ebafde7de"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The role of spiritual values in the recovery of alcoholics"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:38:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1925fb65-9d99-465f-b8e3-bac956de0bd2"],"hasLease_ssim":["878bc734-68ef-44f6-9403-cfcc77f43a02"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Tibor Chikes"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The disease is examined in the context of a theological anthropology based on process theology. The alcoholic responds to the call to wholeness in the radical, healing relationship of prayer. The project explores 1) the role of spiritual values in the recovery of alcoholics in a 28-day residential treatment program, and 2) the comparative length of sobriety reported after three months. The results are: 1) the experimental group showed increases in spiritual consciousness and practice; 2) the control group showed no significant level of difference in spiritual practice at t2 or t3 point although this group showed significant change in spiritual consciousness at both points when compared with t1; 3) the experimental group reported a longer length of sobriety. The implications of the study include: the need for spiritual ministry for alcoholics in recovery; the value of treating the person as a whole; the minister has a role on the health care team as a fellow professional."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717410656223232,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:17:51.331Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:53:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:30:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b25f8eb1-4401-4c7d-a097-5bc967a49648","accessControl_ssim":["ad2c488d-fdf4-4479-b9b4-bd573f19fbfc"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The alcoholic: sick-errant in need of life-transforming power to whom power concepts of Romans may be beneficially addressed"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:53:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:17:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a0ca03d2-a8b1-4640-88ae-76b9e7bf38b6"],"hasLease_ssim":["50785023-6bef-47e0-a88f-ac12beb45448"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James F Caton","M Eugene Boring"],"year_tesim":["1983"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lee W Woodard"],"keyword_tesim":["Greek language--Terms--Dynamis"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Bible. Investigating alcoholism-complicated marriages and a control group of non-alcholic couples revealed that non-drinking marriages can experience superior marital satisfaction. Two factors contributed to this satisfaction: each marriage partner took responsibility for his or her own growth and change and both mates shared a common spiritual life. Demonstrating that religious conversion and alcoholism recovery are similar, new church program models are urged as well as offered by the writer, which incorporate the 12 steps of AA/Al-Anon and the Gospel."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719043527081984,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:43:48.559Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":44,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
