There is a theological discussion of the phenomenon, a review of traditional and novel criticisms of AA, challenges AA presents to Christendom and new areas for investigation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717938028085248,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:26:14.273Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:09:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:34:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fcb5348b-9bf1-4d4b-b0cf-6dfc0057b325","accessControl_ssim":["172e2025-6176-487e-90e7-477a171f07ba"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An exploration of AA's twelve step spirituality of communicating an understanding of law and gospel to recovering Lutheran alcoholics"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:09:27Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:21:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8986cc14-9688-438b-9131-45990d9ea163"],"hasLease_ssim":["1ff48f70-13ba-488a-b443-c6cfb8740c03"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis, MO)"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles T Knippel"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gary W Galen"],"keyword_tesim":["Theology, Lutheran"],"publisher_tesim":["Concordia Seminary (MO)"],"subject_tesim":["Law and gospel","Theology","Alcoholics Anonymous"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study addresses presenting law and gospel to recovering Lutheran alcoholics in the Twelve Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Twelve Steps were evaluated according to law and gospel. A brief study of the influence of American civil religion and two kingdom theology gave a backdrop in which to place the Twelve Steps. Practical ways in which pastors and congregations could better minister to recovering Luthern alcoholics were included."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis, MO)"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c233458a-014a-46a2-aa34-c5309c85f7e6"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126860209324032,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:34:44.007Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:50:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:20:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5d2d465f-9090-4486-8ede-a49c4d8e0bf4","accessControl_ssim":["44271616-940b-497b-97e2-377413cc5140"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Personality transformation and belief in God: an object relations understanding of the spiritual awakening program of Alcoholics Anonymous"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:50:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:52:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6b709931-34cd-4dd4-bf71-83a92744da3f"],"hasLease_ssim":["c087d5ef-5cce-4371-8590-ed304072f7eb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Henry C Brooks"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Clayton L Knapp"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Alcohol","Imagery (Psychology)","Alcoholics Anonymous","Alcoholism","Object relations (Psychoanalysis)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Is the God image more significantly present in recovering alcoholics who have used AA than in alcoholics who have little experience with that program and, is there a correlation between God image and object relations? The most success in treating this disease has come through a renewal of one's spirituality. Personal spirituality focuses on one's higher power, the self, relationships, surrender, conversion, trust, and a host of other issues, which are all core parts of the AA program. This paper has used the alcoholic and the recovery process of AA's twelve steps as a paradigm for growth in spirituality for everyone facing a variety of dis-eases that disrupt modern life. This process has been correlated with biblical insights and concepts as the foundation of Christian spirituality. Research was accomplished through conversations, counseling experiences, and personal study with the people and the program of AA as seen from a Christian perspective."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran
