The beginning point of the study is the psychological and spiritual suffering of the alienated psyche in the archetypal wasteland, a painful condition in which the individual feels separated and alienated from his or her own unconscious depths, from other people in human community, and from a seemingly destructive and unavailable God. This archetypal experience is viewed as the a priori condition for the healing of psyche and soul, a transformation which occurs through the establishment of a redeeming link with an infinite source of wisdom, guidance and blessing called, variously, the self-archetype or the greater personality in psychological language, or the mysterium tremendum or wholly other in theological language. The basic assumption of this study is that there is a religious instinct or drive within the psyche which mediates the contents of the objective psyche to the individual through images which disclose the symbolic meaning of events, reconcile opposites, and promote the individuation process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133189847121920,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:20.420Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:05:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-10T21:37:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bc01da55-04c4-49b7-9140-a0a8e9f089a6","accessControl_ssim":["81df1528-6b4e-437e-98e2-cdbe2166d9fd"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The people of God and the experience of alienation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:05:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-10T21:37:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3f165625-f13e-42ac-9ba1-77cc2b04fac2"],"hasLease_ssim":["4c1b4dea-ad96-4b80-8b31-c098951022b9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Henry C Brooks"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Michael R Nagle"],"keyword_tesim":["Laity Concerned"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy","Vatican Council","Alienation (Social psychology)","Pastoral psychology","Decretum de instrumentis communicationis socialis (Vatican Council)","Jung, C.
