The intervention hypothesized that combining and applying the theories of hope and purpose pedagogically and through mentoring models could resolve the undifferentiated angst in the sample group.  This study concluded that a sense of hope and purpose is an effective antidote to the anger and aimlessness experienced by the members of the cohort. A copy of the resource, integrating anger management theories and praxis with spiritual formation theories and praxis, was presented to an expert panel comprised of pastors and Christian counselors, along with a questionnaire by which evaluations were made of the resource measuring six goal characteristics. Analysis of the results clearly indicates that the six intended goals were reasonably achieved, especially the goal of fostering spiritual formation. Two groups were formed by self-selection from the Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio tristate area of the Church of God (Anderson). One group participated in an anger-reduction workshop and the other group served as a control group. Levels of anger and burnout were measured in both groups before and after the workshop intervention.  Classic hostility and anger studies over the past five decades served as the foundation for the study. From the discovery of Type A behavior in the 1950s, research has identified anger (hostility), along with stress, as primary factors in coronary heart disease. Developing from this base, the study measured the effect of the Lifeskills intervention on anger reduction, and its relationship to the slowing of burnout. The study revealed a significant positive correlation between the reduction of anger and burnout. Although the study sample represents only 3.9% of the total population, a trend is indicated that begs further investigation.  The Lifeskills intervention workshop proved moderately successful in raising self-awareness, offering practical and usable coping strategies, and helping participants to reduce their level of anger, as well as their level of burnout. Based on a review of current resources--especially feminist and womanist theological literature--the project develops a feminist theology of anger, an analytic survey instrument, and a 10-session curriculum, and tries these materials with a group of disadvantaged youth and a comparison group. Disadvantaged youth indicate more anger in hypothetical situations, particularly those involving disrespect. The major intent was to help persons to own and express their anger.  A biblical and theoretical study was made on the subject of anger. The results of the study were then presented to a group of thirteen individuals through the use of lectures, discussions, and self-help groups. A psychometric tool, the 'Anger Self Report', was adminstered to a population of Texas Panhandle Southern Baptist clergy.  Areas explored included awareness of anger, general expresison of anger, physical expression of anger, verbalization of guilt and anger, condemnation of anger, and mistrust. The method employed to determine the effective use of the biblical basis for tissue techniques was a pastoral ministry with four separate married couples counseled in eight fifty-minute sessions of pastoral therapy. Angry, aggressive feelings and their results have usually been the symptom, overt or covert, presented to the therapist.  Medicine shows that aggression and anger are necessary for the cure of illness.  When a patient loses his ability to fight, he has lost his ability to cure himself or be healed.  Inability to constructively use anger results in anxiety, fear, depression and guilt. A review of the literature, starting with Freud, shows researchers using the expression of anger in therapy as early as the post-WW1 era.  Psychiatrists began with aggressive behavior, drugs,hypnosis, and have moved into implosion theory, desensitization, primal scream, and silent abregation.  Social learning theories have added the possibility of unlearning negative behavior. After therapists are comfortable with expressions of negative emotions of anger, they can set limits for self and client to keep feelings from intermingling.
