The bishops of the United States have issued guidelines for Catholic communities who plan to build worship spaces or renovate existing spaces, but no process for execution. The author researched three parishes that developed a process for building and created a series of workshops to help Catholic congregations to begin the process of building/renovation. To practice sacramental worship in a sacrificial setting creates confusion for the worshippers.  A study of theological content and movement in the communion liturgy of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod gives direction to space required for worship; a study of historical forms of church architecture gives rise to new forms possible.
