Chapter 2 presents theological, sociological, and psychological ideas that are foundational for ministry with new members. Chapter 3 summarizes the preliminary study conducted with active, inactive, and former members.  It also details preparatory work with deacons, Sunday school leadership, and the church at-large to lead the church into this ministry. Chapter 4 presents the design and implementation of the new members orientation class which was the central element through which new members participated to become better assimilated. There are two major goals: to emphasize and perpetuate an environment of trust, creating a willingness to integrate new members into the mainstream of the church's ministry; and, to facilitate the future integration of more new members into the church's leadership.  Enabling this to transpire was a family-trust building process and an educational process. Theologically supported, the model used education, communication, and social psychology disciplines. Classes, discussions, and social activities over five months formed the model. Caucasian church members, ethnic adherents, and unchurched ethnics of the local community participated.  It was effective for increasing ethnic growth in the church. Increased cultural knowledge and understanding motivated Caucas to ethnic outreach. This project tested the thesis that the initial commitment of new church members to the congregation could be strengthened as the church helped new members discover and utilize their spiritual gifts in ministry.  The project involved six teaching sessions on spiritual gifts and a five-week ministry experience, matching new members' spiritual gifts with ministry needs within the church. In order for the congregation to be integrated into a working and worshipping whole, these differences must be identified and appreciated.  In-depth interviews of eight family units chosen from the traditional congregation and recent-comers from Guyana were conducted, followed by three group meetings.  Transcripts were analysed, and the findings compared with the experience of similar congregations. Three primary factors were identified: ethnicity, immigration experience, and
