The project director began this equipping process by researching the different models use din assimilation. He used this knowledge to develop a workshop which included lessons outlining a specific assimilation process to be used by the New Members Committee to assimilate new adult members. This New Members Committee was divided into four teams: Contact, Concerns, Connect, and Commitment. Six workshop lessons, taught by the project director, equipped committee members to define assimilation, explain how assimilation occurs, identify obstacles to assimilation, and comprehend how spiritual growth is essential to the assimilation process. Project components included exploring selected new member assimilation strategies and component resources, strategy development through a discipleship training leadership team of the church, and the presentation of a strategy to the church for adoption.  The project director guided the strategy development process by selecting and utilizing a team of leaders from the discipleship training program who collaborated in developing the plan.  The completed strategy plan was presented to the church body for adoption as part of the disciple-making processes for all new members of Gloster Baptist Church. Preachers should focus instead on those prisoners who are trying to break free from the hold and effects of this prisonizing environment.  The transition from the self-absorbed dynamics of the prisoner social structure to the mutual, interpersonal ideals of society is a difficult process.  This struggle to break free from the hold of prisonization is really a response to the call to be more human. First, the project director obtained approval from the church congregation to allow the director to establish a ministry team that would develop the process.  Second, the director researched available materials on assimilation strategies in preparation for equipping team members.  Third, the director explored the field of curriculum design to gain the skills required to create a series of sessions in which the enlisted team members were equipped.  Fourth, the director led the sessions as team members developed the process.  Last, the ministry team presented the proposed process to the congregation for consideration. The process used to reach this goal was to, first, educate the deacons on the need of the church to take intentional steps in the assimilating adult new members.  Second, the deacons were trained and given strategic roles in the assimilation process. The strategy utilized a qualitive research method and included revisions to the new member class and the recruiting and training of shepherd's partners, who helped new members through the initial phase of assimilation in the following areas: completion of the new member class, development of relationships, engagement in ministry opportunities, and receiving information that fosters their spiritual growth.
