The objective is to evaluate the thesis that seasonal residents will increase involvement in the life of the congregation as meaningful relationships are established, and as they are made to feel a part of the congregation.  To test the thesis a model of ministry is developed, tested, and evaluated.  The results indicate the validity of the thesis. Control and experimental groups were selected and pretested.  The experimental group completed a spiritual gifts questionnaire, were given ministry opportunities, and both groups were posttested after twelve weeks.  Assimilation did occur in the areas of belonging, social interaction and positive perceptions about the church. Many losses are due to inadequate preparation and assimilation of new members.  The study includes the historical, theological, connectional, sociological, and available ministries. In the assimilation there is an assessemnt of new members, an assimilation plan to be followed, and suggestions for continued care.  The long-range goal of the model is better-equipped members.
