It calls the churches to make this group a major focus from membership development in the 1980s and 1990s because of their vast numbers and their general attitude about believing without a felt need to belong to the church.  Two-fold research design: (1) narrative background to the generation's history and experience in the decades of the fifties through the mid-eighties; and (2) survey of religious experience and attitudes of 229 respondents, aged 25-36. Data from 59 questions analyzed by 10-church rank; religious types; six sub-samples; male/female; and born-again/not born-again. This research sought to identify the basic components of Christian worship.  Characteristics of baby boomers were identified and a model of worship was created for them that was built upon the foundation of the early church and the first years of the Methodist Church.  A t-test and a two-way ANOVA were used to analyze the Existential and Religious Well-being subscales. The project had four components.  First, the author used the marketing tools of surveys and focus groups to listen to the boomers.  Second, she created a three-tiered educational structure.  Track 1 included lectures on the Bible and ethics. Track 2 employed book studies to develop a spiritual language.  Track 3 focused on prayer techniques.  Third, the courses were designed using professional teaching models.  Lastly, the author evaluated the structure via surveys and interviews. More than 44,000 Baby Boomers live in the county; at least 30,000 are unchurched.  The proposed strategy is based upon six valid and transferable principles drawn from existing literature and the successful programs of other churches.  It met with varying degrees of acceptance by members of the Moline Seventh-day Adventist church, and with little success in reaching out to Baby Boomers.  The major hindrance to the project's success is the inability to elicit commitment from the members or to mobilize active support for the strategy by the host church.
