The first step in the process if equipping selected members with these skills was to research the topics of prayer and evangelism as well as the relationship between them. From this research, the project director identified essential evengelistic prayer skills and developed a seminar curriculum to teach these skills. Many people have been seeking the Christian faith after obtaining religious freedom.  In today's China, thousands of people receive baptism without proper instruction about Church teaching and practice.  As a result, only a small number remain faithful to their baptismal commitment.  In considering today's new situation, I conducted interviews with catechists who have had experience working on this program in the diocese.  I think the Catholic Church in China faces two critical issues: 1) inadequate preparation for those who wish to be baptized, and 2) inadequate ongoing faith formation and communal support for those who have been baptized... The goals of the study are to demonstrate the magnitude of the problem and describe the different ways the clergy minister to unchurched parents.  Fifteen parish clergy in the Archdiocese of Baltimore were interviewed.  The history of infant baptism along with current canon law is examined to put the unchurched parent problem in context.
