The goal of this project was to design a ministry team structure for the local church to engage members in ministry.  A study group was involved in discovery and developmental strategy sessions to asses church needs, description of ministry teams and the design of a structure. The church participated in teaching sessions and completed a survey to determine involvement in ministry teams. It is not a new question, nor does there appear to be a clear, united resolution.  In some discussions, there has been more heat than light.  The Baptist churches are in a state  of transition. However, in the meantime, how does a woman who claims the doctrine of Baptists as her own respond authentically to her faith when the institutions of that faith erect barriers to her? How does she personally interpret her faith in a meaningful way? What avenues of ministry are open to her? What impact does her ministry have on the work and theology of her denomination? What is the experience of a Baptist woman who is called to minister professionally? What has been the response of Baptists to her ministry? This project evaluates the steps and role a Baptist pastor and moderator of the Northern Virginia (NOVA) Baptist Association, namely Rev. After sensitizing the church to the need, the project directs a small group in seven weeks of intense evaluation, study, and review of personal relationships in the Bible and in the practical experience of the participants. The project administers a Congregational Systems Inventory and facilitates discussion about church dynamics. On the basis of that discussion church leaders divide into small groups to compose mission statements defining the mission and purpose of the congregation, and the larger group then reconciles the work done in the small groups to produce a common statement. On the biblical foundation of forgiveness and reconciliation, which is God in Christ reconciling the world to himself, the project reviews the history of human hate, sin, and rebellion that is repeated once more in 'ethnic cleansing' and war in the former Yugoslavia.
