The goal was to reach into homes previously unreached by the church. Research was conducted through a pretest mail survey and a posttest phone survey.  The survey instruments sought to discover awareness of ACTS and audience interest in possible television programs. An eight-week training seminar, which focused on the development of certain healthy family traits, assisted the families in accomplishing this task.  These training sessions offered times for mutual support and dialogue among the families. The results of the project revealed that only slight growth was realized. Surveys taken prior to and following the study series indicated attitudinal changes which enhanced the possibility of a major policy change. Initiating the project was a survey of a congregation's perception of faith.  Results of the survey reflected the need of Baptists to address the place of experience after the 'born again' event, a lack of discipline, and the influence others have on an individual's spiritual growth.  At the end of the project a survey was taken that showed Southern Baptists can develop an understanding of spirituality as journey. A questionnaire administered in 1987 exposed specific weaknesses.  The author developed a syllabus of instruction and conducted seminars in seven cities, concentrating particularly on basic principles of teaching and learning, on educational methods and media, and on the integration of the total teaching program of a church. The goals and objectives were designed to be reached within three to five years.  The goals included the establishment of reachable ministry goals, improvement of the Bible teaching program, greater involvement in outreach, and greater love for fellow members.  The congregation was given opportunity, through open forums, to give valuable insight to the planning. The results were approved by the congregation's acceptance of the Guidebook, a new Glorieta plan to improve teacher training and the relocation of the church by 1992. The priorities of the newspaper's various roles were explored by examining polls of Baptist editors and the Index's board of directors.  A profile analysis of the newspaper's constituency showed an alarming absence of young readers, posing a threat to The Index's future vitality and influence.
