A curriculum was designed that consisted of six sessions on the biblical and theological bases for shared ministry.  A study of similar churches was conducted in four sessions.  Recommendations to increase lay involvement were formulated in the final two sessions.  The project was evaluated by the experimental and descriptive survey methods. A questionnaire determined spiritual disciplines that needed improvement, and a training manual was developed based upon the results. The experimental group received seven weeks of discipleship training from the project director.  This group then trained others one-on-one using the same material. The goal of the project was to demonstrate a model of followup which would provide believers with nurture and support.  Two towns were targeted for a structured followup program in which new converts were discipled by a trained worker.  The towns indicated enough potential for improvement to warrant employment of a full-time followup worker.
