To walk with God is to trust and obey God, to have faith in God's promises, and to embark on a walk of lifetime obedience in pursuit of those promises and in response to the divine command. This author studied the hithpael stem of the Hebrew verb, 'halak,' in Genesis as it was used with Enoch, Noah, and Abraham. Korean scholars to date follow an old tradition which derives 'diakonos' from 'dia' (through) and 'konis' (dust.)  But this derivation is a case of confusion of 'diakonio' (pulvere, to in the dust) with 'diakoneo' (to serve.)  The author exegetes Acts 6 discussing the Grecian Jews, the Hebrews, and the Samaritans. The basis for a twentieth-century hermeneutic is explored through Barth's 'Epistle to the Romans,' in which he posits that the hermeneutical key to Paul's letter is 'krisis.'  Included is an exploration of Charles Gerkin's works on hermeneutics in pastoral care with theological emphasis.  Crises stories from six persons and a biblical story are analyzed in group session by the methods obtained from Gerkin. The study surveyed literature relevant to criteria for biblical preaching, textual modalities, and sermon design.  A text-to-sermon case methodology was utilized to evaluate the impact of textual characteristics upon sermon shape and function.  Seeking exposure to diverse scriptural forms, the research utilized New Testament lectionary readings (Year C).
