The conclusion the author reaches is that the debate centered on biblical interpretation of scripture is subjective to one's Christian faith persuasion. The biblically orthodox Christian faith belief opposes homosexuality and supports the traditional family value system. The unorthodox Christian viewpoint favors a revisionist theology that redefines homosexual practice as ordained by God and therefore morally acceptable. Then, it examines scholarly resources and those intended for lay persons to discover the topics which need to be addressed. There are many methods used today to interpret the Bible and decide what verses are descriptive and which are prescriptive.  Most Christians do not know what hermeneutic they use, and often do not apply any hermeneutic consistently.  Further, there are some interpretive methods that are not God-focused and should not be used but are quite common today in the Christian community. Personal testimonies realistically depict our everyday life and are at the core of who we are as Christians. In sharing our testimony of what God has done for us in a corporate worship service, we create the space for authentic God-talk to take place among Christians. The basic hypothesis is that since the advent of the megachurch, the small Black churches have followed the trend and exchanged the mid-week testimony and Bible study service for the 'pastor's Bible study.' In losing the testimony service, members lost the vehicle to share their stories and experiences of the Holy Spirit and how they have overcome in difficult situations.
