It focuses primarily on practical techniques which laypersons can use to interpret the Bible. This process entails a cycle of four readings and seven interpretive questions. Primary emphasis is placed on using the guidelines from normal human language and the original author's intent to approach the text of Scripture. The practical analytical procedures allow laypersons to do individual Bible study with the incremented incorporation of research tools and study aids. A questionnaire which follows an eight hour presentation shows that the techniques are helpful and readily accepted."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721524076216320,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:23:14.195Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:50:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:43:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ace4d32c-c1f0-4201-a639-6d6b8b6c7850","accessControl_ssim":["9220a4c7-d39e-4678-998c-704c3ed90781"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The lost coin: guiding a congregation in reclaiming feminine biblical images for God and incorporating them into life and worship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:50:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:07:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e81ef25f-458e-4cf8-bb3e-71bbce882bb6"],"hasLease_ssim":["7c28fbf9-9e55-4bde-8347-5c2382b739b3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Susan L Nelson"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kathryn Irish Filer"],"keyword_tesim":["Feminist theology"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Femininity of God","Lost coin (Parable)","Feminist criticism","Bible--Criticism, interpretation","Bible--Study"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project presents the thesis that inclusive language about God that refers to God as both Father and Mother is essential if a church wishes to be faithful to the Bible and to affirm the religious faith and experience of both men and women. The six genres I considered were: saga, law, history, wisdom, prophets, and short-story. The two basic considerations of the historical-critical method which I focused upon were the original context and the literary form."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127233335656448,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:40:39.848Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:21:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:16:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"436d3447-3c34-489c-bbc0-01328afd1e86","accessControl_ssim":["bc36b32f-b2e5-4198-98eb-5e68e0304f66"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A bible study method for use in pastoral settings"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:21:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:05:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["81e7275d-ad84-4bbd-b1b7-6123cb423a31"],"hasLease_ssim":["21c67f93-3996-4b0b-af87-ff26095a2a64"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic University of America"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert Raymond Beck"],"publisher_tesim":["Catholic University of America Department of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Lonergan, Bernard J F, 1904-1984","Bible--Study","Ogden, Schubert M","Catholic Church","Bible--Criticism, interpretation","Lectionaries","Rad, Gerhard von, 1901-1971"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["No abstract"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721122970730496,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:16:51.671Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:59:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:35:20Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f0bbe02a-33fd-4ad8-a361-b5c776f73591","accessControl_ssim":["88078779-01d5-4b5a-a9bc-924235be178b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Textual criticism of the new testament: some resources for preaching"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:59:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:00:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["79c2c619-4ea2-49cb-8ec5-e962e5336e81"],"hasLease_ssim":["f11bf3f7-cc3d-4997-bf6a-6f1ebda0e82b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James T Clemons"],"year_tesim":["1977"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
