But this derivation is a case of confusion of 'diakonio' (pulvere, to in the dust) with 'diakoneo' (to serve.) The author exegetes Acts 6 discussing the Grecian Jews, the Hebrews, and the Samaritans. Finally a study of the 'diaconate' in church history is presented including the qualifications from Acts 6:3 and I Timothy 3:8-13."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720628659421184,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:09:00.259Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:42:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:43:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"77b0b32d-54f3-410a-8ffb-e558e5197d5b","accessControl_ssim":["8b9a5e29-4a81-44bc-afe6-1e5f0de7eefd"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A hermeneutical approach to crisis ministry in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:42:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:38:48Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ce6185d0-713b-47b3-966b-14c094d04c12"],"hasLease_ssim":["aad63110-e779-430d-801d-856d22ab8ee5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Candler School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["William Mallard"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gene M Williams"],"keyword_tesim":["Crisis (Psychology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Candler School of Theology of Emory University"],"subject_tesim":["Bible. The basis for a twentieth-century hermeneutic is explored through Barth's 'Epistle to the Romans,' in which he posits that the hermeneutical key to Paul's letter is 'krisis.' Included is an exploration of Charles Gerkin's works on hermeneutics in pastoral care with theological emphasis. Crises stories from six persons and a biblical story are analyzed in group session by the methods obtained from Gerkin. The results were that most group members realized a changing of their story that helped find healing."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134940200435712,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:43:09.686Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:36:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:57:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a089a88a-e7fc-408c-b7f6-4ace3c22e2ce","accessControl_ssim":["b7debac1-2e19-4e26-863e-65c9d94be00f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching in the shape of scripture"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:36:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:48:41Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["83a106a7-46c4-43ee-8337-a66daab9e362"],"hasLease_ssim":["db9c8b29-edff-4bf9-9610-accb0d528892"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Nazarene Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul M Bassett"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jeffrey T Crosno"],"publisher_tesim":["Nazarene Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Sermons","Bible--Criticism, interpretation","Preaching--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The study proposed to evaluate the extent to which the shape and function of a sermon can be drawn from the literary characteristics of its biblical text. The study surveyed literature relevant to criteria for biblical preaching, textual modalities, and sermon design. A text-to-sermon case methodology was utilized to evaluate the impact of textual characteristics upon sermon shape and function. Seeking exposure to diverse scriptural forms, the research utilized New Testament lectionary readings (Year C).
