The Study Guide designed by the author for this project report was used in a group of eight persons.  The Study Guide was structured to assist the participants in a learning process towards growth.  It was a learning process that merged the cognitive (empirical knowledge of six selected Psalms) with the affective (the participant's feelings while responding to the emotional utterances of the psalmist).  It was a learning experience that proved to be different for most of the participants in that it was a spiritual growth experience. The paper notes how the issues of interpretation often recur, although the cultural context, and even the conception of the authority and inspiration of scripture may change.  One such issue is the value given to the historical context of the original writing or speaking of a given text.  The paper provides an overview of recurring issues in the history of interpretation and methods that various techniques of interpretation answer them.
