The compositional-naive method is holistic, concentrating on the discovery of the text's Gestalt. Charisma is defined as 'God's grace that motivates and enables Christians to minister in God's power'. Distinction is made between 'offices' (Ephesians 4:11-12), 'manifestation of the Spirit' (1 Cor 12:7-11) and Charismata. The hypothesis, 'as Christians learn what their spiritual gift is, they will be freed and equipped for ministry' is supported with surveys and interviews with 21 members of St John's Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. The project demonstrates a 3-step process for training teachers to deal with three Bible passages: 1)interpret the text by analyzing literary characteristics and its literary and historical contexts; 2) explore the goal of Christian education and the learners' life experience, establishing a process for applying the biblical message accordingly; 3) teaching the Bible lesson by examining theories of learning, principles and methods of teaching, and designing a teaching/learning process compatible with literary genres and goals of Christian education. This project designed sample lesson plans relevant to the experience of Chinese Americans for three genres: Narrative, Wisdom, and Prophetic. Re-visiting Biblical texts from Genesis, Job and the Epistles, the author addresses themes including the goodness of God's creation, our relationship with the land, early Hebraic understandings of ecology, salvation of non-human entities, and, of course, the Biblical imperative to love our neighbor. This exegetical probe of the Bible concludes that our new neighbor, lying battered beside the road to Jericho, is the earth. The author draws on several scholars to evaluate the ethics of loving the earth, concluding that eco-spirituality invites believers to expand their reverence, respect, and love for each other and God to include God's creation--to value the earth as God values it. The author discusses mentors from the past who have blended their love of God with their love of the earth and provides two group exercises in eco-spirituality as teaching models for Christian educators."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f245891-e4c1-47d9-842b-9aefbafae138"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135129016467456,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:46:09.756Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:25:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:27:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3ed6bdef-b6d7-47e4-9a1f-686d42e6da04","accessControl_ssim":["40440cf0-d425-424c-99f3-bc3eff4a37c2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A model for theologically validating contemporary applications from Old Testament narratives: a literary foundation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:25:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:57:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3160bcfd-7998-4b8e-8b79-d1991ffd8089"],"hasLease_ssim":["bea19492-185e-417a-b625-020c0e8fa1f2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Keith Willhite"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Samuel L Harbin"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Bible--Criticism, interpretation"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author theorized that extant literature dedicated to the study of the Old Testament narrative texts neglected their theological study, and proposed an interpretive model to guide interpreters to theologically valid sermon applications from Old Testament narratives. He demonstrated use of the model by applying it to Exodus 34:29-35 and 2 Samuel 9:1-13, suggesting theologically valid sermon applications from each text."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130198981214208,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:27:48.108Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:02:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:06:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"82b56e20-bb68-4c9e-b904-c0475e30ec7f","accessControl_ssim":["aa7ffeb7-f118-4df5-8c18-b63ffcbcc3a7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Show me Jesus! a study of the Gospels for new Christians"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:02:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:59:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2732cf79-39cf-4d01-8844-d50d722896c8"],"hasLease_ssim":["489a2c56-a6ae-4119-bd2d-a2f7a0dadbd3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Molly Longstreth","Jay B McDaniel"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jerry Addison Jackson"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["Bible. The eight-week Bible study on the Gospels was developed with context associates and employed by new Christians. Both groups took tests before and after the study to determine the study's effects on their biblical understanding and faith. A third group took the tests but not the study. Test results were inconclusive, but indicated that the study did inspire the new Christians's and context associates' faith."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128843039277056,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:06:14.981Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":100,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
