If preachers are to engage the message of scripture to postmodern people effectively, they will need to critically assess the mistakes made by the American pulpit in responding to the postmodern challenges and also evaluate the postmodern world from a biblical perspective. This project focused on a group of preachers who gathered to engage scripture in creative ways and then to continue practices individually. The author explored ways in which intentionally making time for spiritual practices affects the preacher as well as the sermon. The research involved a twelve-week study of a lectionary group of preachers, interviews of numerous preachers outside the group, and journal entries.
