The project director preached a sermon series from the book of Ecclesiastes during which he taught the major themes of the wisdom genre and the skills required to interpret the wisdom genre properly. An advisory group of experts evaluated the sermons. A control group provided feedback through written surveys. From the preaching of eight sermons in a medium-sized RCA church in central New Jersey, the project identified elements that help people to learn Bible passages heretofore unknown to them, including a sermon style matching the genre of the text, re-contextualization, functional equivalence, and the passion of the preacher. This project identifies the theology and frequency of diaconate preaching and explains the importance of deacons to be able to effectively communicate God's message. The following work provides a five week seminar that has been taught to a group of deacons from the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York. The seminar helped the participants to recognize, understand and apply specific skills in which to enhance their preaching. He proposed that applying the rhetorical analysis by paying attention to the unique features of the narrative genre may help alleviate this problem.  He then carried out a field test with a teaching course designed to train Chinese preachers to apply rhetorical analysis to biblical stories.
