M. E. Zion Church to connect their story as African-Americans to the biblical story. The methods of research for this dissertation were: the author portraying biblical characters during Sunday morning worship services, the author's engaging in dramatic projects with congregation members, locating and incorporating theological and historical source material, and adapting theatrical concepts learned in undergraduate studies. Through critically engaging the Bible, the history of the systematic reading of scripture and discussion with pastors and lay persons, an addendum was formulated with suggested additions of feminine passages to the Revised Common Lectionary. In this paper, the author has designed a ministry tool that improves upon the existing visual arts worship resources by providing background information and theological observations for the visual art used in the Advent C cycle of lectionary preaching. The project included a study group that engaged in eight study sessions of the book of Psalms.  This group then divided into five sub-groups, each of which was responsible for the ordering and implementation of a worship service centered upon a theme from the Psalms.  The project also included the efforts of a project steering committee that sought to explore the plurality of the worshiping community through the use of oral interviews. He researched Baptist pulpit giants and states their method of text selection of waiting upon the Holy Spirit.
