The research, following a literature review, engaged qualitative methodology through personal interviews guided by four research questions. These questions explored the participants' beliefs about inerrancy, their approaches to difficult texts, their methods of interpretation which were largely individualistic, and their reliance upon God's guidance in understanding texts. The method of Bible study was compiled and then taught to a group of lay church members using classroom presentations, small group practice sessions, and by requiring each participant to prepare and present a Bible study independently.
