A quantitative research method (written surveys and focus group interviews) was used for this study. It was determined that influences shaping members' ideas of leadership include scripture, Stone-Campbell principles and practices, workplace experiences, and American political structures. The extent of thee influences varied according to a member's age, gender, and length of association with the Stone-Campbell movement.
