Four such congregations, each more than 30 years old, have grown from an average worship attendance of fewer than 80 to an average of more than 125 within a 10-year period. The project devises and administers a Turnaround Church Survey for use in interviewing pastors and lay leaders in these congregations. The project uses three case studies of patients in therapy to demonstrate the constructive power of core narrative in creating future stories. Deconstructing dysfunctional aspects of these narratives creates emotional and psychological space for reconstruction of more healthy narratives and patterns of life, thus creating experiences of hope and possibility for the future. As women enter ministry in large numbers, they find the same sexism and even violence toward women in the church itself. This project proposes that it is almost impossible for a woman to attempt to change a hierarchical power structure,  provides demonstrating case studies, and draws necessary implications.  The project asks, 'Can a hierarchical power structure be changed to a shared power structure in one local congregation?' The project interviews Link Care professionals, clients, and sending agencies and studied Link Care documents.  Link Care seems to be succeeding in every area of its endeavor in providing holistic pastoral care and counseling for ministry professionals. By interviewing a sample of 33 Vietnamese Christians, the project discovered that Vietnamese immigrants are often not devoted to their former religions. Crises, conviction that Christ is God, anticipation that God can meet one's felt needs, and parents' approval are important factors influencing conversion. The project assesses leadership needs of the church in Eastern Europe, evaluates the seminar in light of those needs, and recommends changes to improve the seminar.  Assessment of the pastoral leadership situation and resulting leadership needs in evangelical churches of post-communist Eastern Europe is accomplished through a Pastoral Leadership Survey. Case studies of three seminar participants evaluate the possiblility of significantly addressing these needs through a four-day seminar on the subject of pastoral leadership.  These case studies,  augmented by interviews, were used to determine the practical effectiveness of the seminar.
