The seminar included instructional content to guide assigned parent-adolescent interactions and attachment experiences.  A sample of 23 participants representing 18 family units attended six sessions over 11 weeks.  The Stereotypes of Adolescence Scale (Buchanan \u0026 Holmbeck, 1998) was administered. Results showed statistically significant change in pre- and posttest scores for 7 of 10 subscales. To identify and define parenting principles, the descriptive and historical methods of research were used. Selected parents participated in an eight-week training seminar. Statistical analysis indicated the experimental group demonstrated significant levels of change after the training.  The participants continued in a seven-week seminar to design a program for applying the parenting principles. To do this, three self-select groups (well-parented, dysfunctionally parented and reparented respondents) were all given a combination 'questionnaire-interview' (based primarily on the thinking of Kohut, Winnicott and Langs) and the MMPI.  Results were sought on seven specific MMPI scales.  Although the research hypotheses were not proved using these seven scales, several unhypothesized findings were worthwhile: there were correlations between the self-select group and overall health through general impressions of the whole of MMPI profiles looking at all the scales together. This course was based on a philosophy that was grounded in a study of theology and psychology.  This study led to a training program which emphasized the centrality of the parent-child relationship. These skills were in the areas of love, communication, gaining cooperation, discipline and building responsibility.
