When they are respectfully encouraged to accept or reject the historical-grammatical truth they can discover it through a hands-on learning experience with the Bible that is related directly to their culture and life. This project conducted inductive study of the Bible with 16 Native American students attending American Indian College in Spring 1995. The focus is on persons born between 1961 and 1981 who have no connection with the church.  Characteristics of this unique generation are presented that will meet the needs and developmental stages of young adults. Seven one-hour classes were held in which the participants engaged in a critical reflection of their own praxis while reflecting on a series of five sermons dealing with cultural and theological assumptions toward gender stratification in regard to language, power and models for God. Adults once distanced from the church have an open door to the church provided them as well as a new place for service and participation.  Children of diverse ages are provided both a new forum for active participation and a time for worship. All those involved are given a new context in which to participate in the narrative message of the gospel which claims seekers and believers in ways which nurture faith and stimulate the enterprise of raising children with biblical faith.  This event, called church school worship, meets contemporary social and religious needs especially prevalent among baby boomer parents. It can serve as a vital and creative tool within a comprehensive family ministry of a local congregation.
