A manual was developed showing the relationship between success in attracting people into fellowship with a congregation and some forms of nonverbal communication, such as nonverbal messages and nonspeech messages.  The manual was subjected to evaluation by the Commission on Evangelism and Renewal for the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina and revised according to their recommendations. Using historical research, the author discovered the 'gentle persuasion' concept of Moravian evangelism from the eighteenth century.  The author reported his findings in an evangelism guide for congregations called 'The Moravian Way of Evangelism.'  The guide was field-tested in ten congregations. Programs emphasizing community, participation and shared leadership will result in greater future involvement.  Persons experiencincing two contrasting styles of confirmation education were surveyed ten years after their confirmation. Such care helps teachers grow and develop their teaching potential. Chapter one underpins the respected place of teachers both historically and theologically.  Chapters two - five identify supporting, recruiting, training and supervising as areas for demonstrating teacher care.  Chapter two advocates supporting teachers through communication, education, recognition, resources and sabbaticals.  Chapter three describes how care is demonstrated to teachers in the way they are recruited.  Chapter four discusses several types of training for teachers and also sets forth six questions that should guide training.
