The project involved research in the general field of discipleship and in triad of quad disciple-making. The project director developed lesson plans and led the equipping seminars. An average of forty-six adults participated in the seminars. Seminar participants evaluated their spiritual awareness through the use of a pre-seminar assessment and then at the end of the equipping seminar participants took the same assessment. Results of pre- and post- assessment were compared. Through conversations with members in which mutual sharing took place and responses to surveys were made, ethnographic studies, review of relevant literature, and subsequent analysis of data that were gathered, what emerged was an education program that deepened that biblical theological understanding of participants as people of God. A nine week course was developed utilizing pre and post questionnaires. The arguments against creeds and confessions in the 19th century and the purpose of creeds as understood throughout the church's history were presented. As a result, there has been an increase in the number of volunteers who perform ministerial roles once reserved to religious professionals. These volunteers often have not received the spiritual formation of their professional predecessors. Drawing from the U.S.C.C.B. document Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, the author has created a program of spiritual formation for parish lay volunteers.
