As a former research engineer who concentrated on robotics research work for NASA Johnson Space Center, I aim to integrate my science and ministry background by using this book as a tool for apologetics and evangelism. This bilingual pictorial guide contains seventy full color pages with over one hundred color pictures or photographs; the companion DVD is a narrated commentary. It presents the latest findings on fine-tuning in the universe through astrophysics/cosmology from a theistic worldview and quotes from prominent scientists who support evidence for the cosmic fine-tuning of the universe. The target readers are educated ethnic Chinese. Thirty pre-published prototype copies were printed; volunteers were recruited to evaluate the book and DVD from Clear Lake Chinese Church and four other congregations in East Asia to form a broader test base. Pre-test and post-test questionnaires were distributed with the book and DVD. A total of one hundred and twenty-three test samples were collected. The variables measured were: recall, communication, attention, stimulation of thought and emotion, persuasion, and enjoyment.  Groups of students saw either a multimedia presentation or a slide presentation and were compared to a control group, which saw no visual elements.  The multimedia group outperformed the control group, while the slide group performed oppositely. This thesis states that multimedia presentations will be useful for reaching the 'electronic generations' in the post-literate world.  This project presented the same homily to four different university groups.  Two groups heard the homily and saw a simultaneous video presentation.  The other two heard only the oral/aural presentation.  The participants answered questionnaires, and two groups participated in focus group discussions.  Quantitative results were neutral, with a slight leaning in support of the thesis. This is the central question answered by this thesis. A primary presupposition of this project is that when we involve the use of sight during the sermon event, our ability to remember what was said increases. In this study, the theoretical and theological analysis of remembering and memory are discussed in connection with the use of visuals for retention. Those who participated in the project as hearers were asked to evaluate some sermons that used visual aids and some that did not. A survey of pastors is conducted to discover homiletical, technical, and theological guidelines for the use of video clips in sermons. A multi-picture PowerPoint presentation was employed, and written surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews measured the response.  The result was a seventy-seven percent positive response, a seventeen percent neutral response, and a six percent negative response. The enhancement of computer-based software and improvements in microcomputers and operating systems is enabling the design and development of a wide range of multimedia education compact disc (CD) products.  I will use this technology to create an interactive tool that supplements classroom lessons and the individual reading of the textbook Biblical Preaching. Because students have different perceptual strengths, information on the CD-ROM will be presented in a variety of formats.  The exercises will incorporate the use of audio and video, as well as written text to accommodate the different ways that people process information. My philosophy in regards to the interactive CD-ROM is that learners should be able to approach learning in a way that takes account of their own learning needs and learning style.
