The dependent variable in this project was the effectiveness of the confirmation program in meeting the identified core ministry value. The researcher concluded that the following independent variable had no statistical significance on effectiveness: primary goal of the confirmation program, geographic location of the church, class size, length of confirmation program, age student began confirmation, confirmation teacher's philosophy of education, and curriculum used. The hypothesis addresses the problem of a lack of an available systematic servant leadership-training model, which could better equip laity and incumbent deacons in carrying out the duties of the office of deacon more effectively.  A qualitative action research methodology consisting of pre and posttest questionnaire was used to measure understanding and attitude changes based on completion of the instructional training modules. The project proposes that study of faith relationships will result in better self-concepts for children and teenagers. Research in leading authors and surveys supports the thesis that Christian religious education does have a positive effect on both faith-maturity and self-esteem.  The project conducted a study with a middle-school Sunday school class designed to help them enhance self-concepts as children of God.
