The elements from the Kairos retreat program were distilled and included in a high school freshman program designed to initiate and integrate the freshman class more quickly. The result was an earlier incorporation of that particular freshman class into the community. Peer ministry (six students with five faculty) and appropriate symbols were utilized. Such worship should take account of the way people develop morally and spiritually.  The models of Lawrence Kohlberg in moral development and of James Fowler in faith development are examined and related to current concepts in Christian worship and social ethics.  Five worship services and sermons were used to test developmental strategies on social-ethical themes.
