And further to ascertain if there is any significant correlation between any such relationship and any of four measures of involvement in the life of the church.  The thesis proposed strengths of such relationships and correlations.  Members of the congregation completed an instrument designed for the study. There is a need to hold these various component parts together instead of choosing one or the other as real or ultimate.  The holding together of these different spheres can be accomplished within a tension.  The development of a construct, diagram, or visual interpretation of this process presents an opportunity to explore the symbols of our church and the traditional Christian approaches to life's issues.  The process of exploration is far more important than the finished construct, for the construct is only a tool to enable and enhance theological reflection and formation within a parish. The basic material of this course was the life and teachings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, especially his emphasis on christological understanding. This project was conducted during an eight-week, two-hour seminar in the local church setting.  The class method involved lectures followed by suggested discussion questions and a final evaluation. Statistical analysis failed to confirm the hypothesis. It was a program developed by a group in the congregation under the author's leadership.  This program engaged a significant number from the congregation in a study throughout ten months of a year that involved biblical, historical, theological and pastoral aspects of Christian worship, and the development of a planning process for worship services.
