Five congregations (United Methodist, United Church of Christ, Baptist, nondenominational, and Disciples of Christ) from Chicago and Lansing, Michigan, studied current trends in stewardship, salaries and benefits for clergy and lay staff, and outreach ministries.  The project developed new stewardship programs to encourage these congregations to re-establish themselves as servants to their communities. Giving behavior of adult leaders from the United Church of Christ is also examined in relation to income, education, generation, and theological perspective. Copies of legal documents, histories of funds from their inception, mechanics of annual interest distribution, and documentation of effects on local ministries were assembled and evaluated.
