The course stressed intentional planning and correct use of the financial and other resources which God has entrusted to the clergy.  It dealt with resource management needs of all families and the special concerns of clergy families.  The project and its seminar resulted in significant experiences for many of the participating families. Primary emphases include the following:  1) affirmation of God as the source of all that is; 2) recognition of humankind's position of responsibility; 3) acknowledgment that all of creation has been entrusted to humankind; 4) clarification of the relational nature of stewardship. Money is part of God's creation.  It has spiritual value and theological implications.  This project examines selected Old and New Testament passages and the socioeconomic and historical dimensions of money.  These findings are synthesized into a theology of money for the church.  The result is a biblical understanding of money and possessions as a sign of God's invisible grace made visible. The study includes a look at how worship and financial stewardship are linked.  A survey was made of 32 Presbyterian churches, each with 2000 members or more.  Active laity and clergy attitudes and practices were uncovered.  Campaign practices were surveyed. The hermeneutical process was taken from Paul Ricouer and the theology of stewardship was developed in reaction to Karl Barth's concept of 'true growth' in the community of faith.  A seminar based upon the shared Christian praxis approach was developed.  The seminar was held at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Calumet, Oklahoma. It consisted of lectures and written activities.  The seminar participants gained a new understanding of stewardship which was used to project avenues of action. Interviews, observation and a questionnaire were used to collect data from forty lay and clergy church leaders.  The paper includes sections on biblical and theological bases for stewardship, imperatives for stewardship and justice, motivation for giving, research methodology and data analysis. Statistical analysis failed to confirm the hypothesis.
