The methodology consists of five parts: the description of Jewish-Christian intermarriage in the United States; a discussion of the chavurah movement in the contemporary Jewish scene; a history of the founding of the Interfaith Chavurah for Liberal Judaism in Greater Hartford; the synthesis of a goal attainment model based on the works of Donald Metz and Talcott Parsons; and, the account of the ICLJ's first year and analysis of its achievements.  Although the ICLJ was founded as a conventional congregation, its identity sometimes became ambivalent and bordered on an informal support group. Sikhism and Christianity are compared, suggesting ways of communicating the gospel of Christ. Evaluated using qualitative research methodology, the results indicate that this process encourages and enables persons to reflect on their experiences, discovering new possibilities for enhancing funeral ministry in both individual and corporate areas. The analysis provides insights and possibilities that enable both clergy and congregations to be actively involved in this
