Employing anthropological and biblical perspectives, this project analyzes four religious beliefs and practices that prevent acceptance of Christianity among Ashantis, finding that a major problem is the traditional Ashanti concept of God as remote, unapproachable, and unavailable in times of crisis. According to Thai Christian understanding, traditional phii and biblical demons are not related, but during Christian exorcism traditional concepts play an important role. Worldview affects the cognitive, affective, and volitive center of a person, and therefore Christian ministry should seek to effect changes at the level of worldview.  Among Chinese intellectuals the May Fourth Movement at the beginning of the twentieth century initiated profound changes in worldview.  This project proposes that this moment in history Christians could effect a massive worldview change among contemporary Chinese intellectuals. A change in understanding of lay ministry is necessary to overcome the inactivity or passivity of the laypersons.  This requires a change from a consciousness based on the Confucian tradition to the Christian idea based on the Bible and Christian tradition. This project suggests a better understanding of ministry and church office, educational programs, and important implications that are necessary for the Korean Church to activate lay ministry.
