The project has three main parts: (1) chapter one lays out the theological underpinnings for the central thesis, a definition of evangelism that can be used effectively and with integrity in the preparation and carrying out of weddings and funerals, and three 'guidelines' pastors can use as they prepare weddings and funerals with evangelism in mind; (2) chapters two and three each contain three case studies which serve to illustrate the central thesis and function as models for pastors who wish to be more effective in their wedding and funeral ministries; (3) the fourth chapter summarizes the author's conclusions and learnings. The facilitator conducted six two-hour seminars on the following topics: (1) introduction of theological rationale and theoretical presuppositions, (2) exploring and understanding our own sexuality, (3) sexuality in childhood, (4) sexuality in the home, (5) values, and (6) communication skills.  The facilitator led four parent support groups to reinforce learned skills. The writer provided a thorough bibliography and extensive appendices. The main parts of the funeral event such as the service, wake, the committal service, and the repast, are examined as powerful tools of evangelism. In addition, the importance of preaching, singing, and praying during the funeral event have been explored as additional spiritual tools for evangelism. The role of the pastor and laity are explored as care givers offering an open door of opportunity for being evangelists. The Rite envisions, during the Period of the Catechumenate, a kind of apprenticeship for catechumens and candidates, focusing on instruction, prayer, community and formation in apostolic activity. This thesis project focuses on three parishes with three very different approaches to the Period of the Catechumenate. Chapter two is the literature review. It describes world view literature in general, African world view, and Western world view. Chapter three deals with biblical world view literature. It includes contributions from various Christian writers, and their perspectives show the contrast between the biblical ideal and the reality of Western norms. Chapter four gives the historical, theological, and sociological background. Chapter five outlines the methodology. It discusses expected outcomes and the avenues to getting there. Chapter six, dealing with findings, is based upon the evaluation done by the students at the end of the course. The appendices include lesson plans for each day, the exams, and the evaluation sheet. The research method was to conduct open-ended interviews with leaders in churches, mission agencies, and foundations in order to build a philosophy of giving large financial grants. The research discloses that giving is best done through partnerships that are relational in nature. Three levels of strategic importance are delineated.
