This paper will examine the challenges the church currently faces in reaching out to Hindu background believers (HBBs) and suggest means through which the church can improve its efforts at evangelization, by taking greater note of the Hindu religious milieu and exercising greater cultural sensitivity. It will examine how the problem of differing social norms that have emerged between Hindus and Christians can be overcome and how certain tenets of Hinduism can be adopted as a way of accurately conveying the gospel while others will have to be revised or discarded for evangelism to be effective. The wider context of evangelism in Malabar is studied through a literature review, visits to the area and interviews with those who are in active ministry in Malabar. The author used a questionnaire to gain information from HBBs in Malabar. This study identifies the reasons for Hindus' resistance to the gospel and highlights the importance of discipling HBBs to become pivotal forces for change in the Hindu community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132124649095168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:58:24.567Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:22:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:43:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6d9a0f78-0402-4751-840c-17bbbfc20cc2","accessControl_ssim":["9a75842a-db6e-4a70-a512-60029586f195"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Exploring the worship pastor as leader in the contemporary evangelical church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:22:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:20:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["95aa972c-73c6-453b-9c1d-12f1d300c085"],"hasLease_ssim":["c4f23d90-f386-4db0-9916-f495e4689cee"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven W Klipowicz"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jody W Cross"],"keyword_tesim":["Shepherds--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Shepherds","Worship","Clergy--Office","Service (Theology)","Christianity","Religion","Evangelicalism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["In light of the rapidly changing worship culture in the evangelical church, this study explored the worship pastor as shepherd leader. Though this is a frequent occurrence, the nature and unique stresses present in this type of family is not well-understood or explored within the counseling literature. The term Jewish intercultural families is used in this thesis rather that the more commonly used term, interfaith, because it is the emphasis of this thesis that while the couples' differences may contain a faith element, it is in essence a cultural difference. An approach is explored which encourages couples to think more broadly about the range of options available for them, by exploring five categories: identity, community, traditions, faith and extended family. Until recently, marriage and family therapists have been very reluctant to separate the ideas of religion, spirituality and culture. It is the conviction of this thesis that not only is this a critical part of helping Jewish intercultural families, but that a Christian approach to counseling in particular can help couples see the possibility of spiritual unity while maintaining communal and ethnic diversity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131942813433856,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:31.156Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:21:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:29:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0e960f64-17f7-4f5f-aff2-bc46b9a8c518","accessControl_ssim":["0d786aa1-3437-4019-aebf-534548de9d0d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A Dallas Willard dictionary"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:21:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:31:51Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["70e5cf74-625a-41d5-991c-3c07c11807b2"],"hasLease_ssim":["45ce5c8b-95a5-486d-a656-d4b3457c43b7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Sharon L Rowland"],"year_tesim":["2014"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Elane C O'Rourke"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Dictionaries","Willard, Dallas, 1935-2013","Christianity","Theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project was the creation of a resource explaining the terms used by Christian philosopher Dallas A. This theory was tested through qualitative research using phenomenological methodology focusing on the subjective experiences of the participants."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129631060918272,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:18:46.497Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:37:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:14:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1bf22f36-b878-445c-8d44-12df42901564","accessControl_ssim":["cc98675c-24ff-4094-8da0-770de62b97ee"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Partners in faith and action: a statement of agreement and plan for urban ministry between the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the Union for Reform Judaism"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:37:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:57:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d5bd5c6d-268b-4803-9acb-99031004a5c9"],"hasLease_ssim":["aebda24b-621a-4b39-a088-e279ec44e1cf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Fred D Smith"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. How could a congregation move from benevolent benefactor toward missional accompaniment? Surveys and an interview measured the impact of three interventions, Bible study, testimony, and prayer. Theological and Biblical perspectives included missional ecclesiology, accompaniment, spiritual practices, and liberation theology. Theoretical perspectives included post-colonial theory, change theory, and cross-cultural communication. Many people have been seeking the Christian faith after obtaining religious freedom. In today's China, thousands of people receive baptism without proper instruction about Church teaching and practice. As a result, only a small number remain faithful to their baptismal commitment. In considering today's new situation, I conducted interviews with catechists who have had experience working on this program in the diocese. I think the Catholic Church in China faces two critical issues: 1) inadequate preparation for those who wish to be baptized, and 2) inadequate ongoing faith formation and communal support for those who have been baptized... By creating their own small base communiites, the Chinese Church can fully implement the RCIA process for new Catholics and ovrcome the past inadequacy of faith formation in those who are already baptized."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b51273d2-7ff5-4ecb-af24-64508c2367ad"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129659114520576,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:19:13.250Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":157,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
