It is based on a practical application of the intersection between ethics and religious education. Research included information on the purpose, resources and programs of interfaith web sites and local interfaith groups. A review of interfaith literature on peacemaking, ethics, community and religious education was supplemented with interviews with specialists in these areas including scholars, spiritual leaders and religious educators. A model for an interfaith program is presented, as well as resources for faith communities who seek to implement the model. The goals of this project are to (a) strengthen the purpose of the local church, the First Congregational Church of Woodbury, and (b) inspire individual and community leadership. Three faith summits and a 'faith \u0026 justice' lecture series were devised. The first summit was held in the fall of 2005, the second faith summit in the spring of 2006, and the third in the fall of 2006. The 'faith \u0026 justice' lecture was a by-product of evaluations and learning from the three faith summits. Two committees were formed. The intra-religious committee and the inter-religious task force help steer the dialogue. Ongoing lectures and events are now combined efforts of both committees. The lectures are inspiring inter-religious dialogue both within the church and the community at large."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Hartford Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8e52e4c8-38b6-4846-872d-a744b4f5725d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720212166082560,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:02:23.060Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:23:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:58:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cc22527b-769b-40e7-bd96-97f7c7846cfa","accessControl_ssim":["ecac5c3d-41cb-4c72-90d4-bb0b2b7b5cac"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Defibrillation of peace: a Christian clergy's approach towards the restoration of peace in the Nigerian interfaith community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:23:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:59:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fe7788bc-6da5-427b-aa3e-ac171cde3a1c"],"hasLease_ssim":["52857218-b27a-4e2c-b670-cb2086fead25"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Elizabeth Conde-Frazier"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"location_tesim":["Nigeria"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Isaiah Ekundayo Dada"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Religion","Toleration--Religious aspects","Christianity and other religions","Peace movement","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project uses library research, including reviews of published studies, books and articles written from the perspective of peace education, conflict resolution, and reconciliation. Individual Christians and Christian institutions are now faced with the question, 'How shall I engage the religious other?' As an institution, the Presbyterian Church (USA) is no exception.
