Hong Kong citizens are apprehensive about the future of their country, and about 60,000 persons have emigrated from Hong Kong each year since 1991. Church and society face a leadership crisis. Christianity and its Eucharist are Euro-American cultural exports not identified with Japanese or Asian culture and images. This project examines the need for Christianity to identify and become indigenous with Japanese and Asian culture.  The project demonstrates how the Chanoyu (Tea Ceremony), which best represents Japanese culture and spirituality and which has been used in Japanese Christian history, can become the Japanese Eucharist.
