To this end, detailed and extensive research was carried out on the Church and architecture. And then, based on the research results, education was offered to members in the church for the sake of getting the biblical meaning of the church and the scientific concept of architecture understood; afterward, in conjunction with the education, a special prayer campaign and spiritual retreat were carefully organized and officially executed. By doing so, Dongkwang Church's spiritual community came to receive a new vision of a great thing implied in the redevelopment project, and further the whole congregation ended up with a pledge of commitment to church construction."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715438532231168,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:46:30.568Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:20:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:38:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7d1d3807-35c0-4a44-93b7-3e1a58579018","accessControl_ssim":["0320a3d7-314a-4b14-bd20-a5c823fe5d54"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sacred space: the architecture and space of a Byzantine Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:20:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:49:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["62952809-4cc6-4510-854b-f30e7ac4cd3f"],"hasLease_ssim":["610d2d87-6aee-42b1-9212-d54726f64b0f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Joseph Allen"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Christine C Kerhalli"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Space (Architecture)","Church architecture","Orthodox Eastern Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Within the narrative of faith itself, everything within the Byzantine temple is designed with biblical and theologically centered meaning to define a sacred space where a person may have an experience of being in the presence of God. This research attempts to give new ways of searching for the presence of the Holy by exploring the intersection of theology, the faith stories of five congregations in the Presbytery of Arkansas, and the architecture of the building complexes of those congregations. The research employed the method of qualitative analysis to find recurrent themes in the faith stories of the congregations as told by long-time members, analyzing those stories through the lens of Reformed theology, and contrasting those findings with the church's architectural expression of faith. The study found that each congregation expresses its faith in unique ways, both in story form as well as structurally, but that Presbyterians need reinforcement of our verbal vocabulary to articulate how we understand the Holy to be among us as a particularly called people of God. Our spaces and places give us tools for expressing our faith if we will spend the time and energy to learn the language."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7d2ba5b6-aeec-459a-aaec-e1eed75d32f0"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134392403361792,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:34:27.267Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:12:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:48:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7ad727b1-0207-41f3-9dbb-eee3cb291c0a","accessControl_ssim":["23b0dc88-ebde-46a4-8683-fca8387db46b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A strategy for guiding pastors and congregations through a church-building project in Bermuda Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:12:48Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:45:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["30e8a8a3-bea0-437e-93f0-8553b48f4cac"],"hasLease_ssim":["d522fe8d-d9ca-4fae-8dad-54d835134ec0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andrews University"],"advisor_tesim":["James I North"],"year_tesim":["1998"],"location_tesim":["Bermuda"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Carlyle Casswell Simmons"],"publisher_tesim":["Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary of Andrews University"],"subject_tesim":["Bermuda","Church architecture","Church buildings","Missions","Seventh-Day Adventists--Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes a rationale for Seventh-day Adventist church buildings in the Bermuda Conference, showing why architectural and physical features should complement the theology of the church.
