The first step involved an in-depth study of FBCH's attendance trends from 2005 to 2015 based on the annual church profile reports and recorded church history. The project director compared discipleship strategies of churches with similar characteristics and conducted a survey of church leaders to determine the current condition of FBCH discipleship. The research showed that FBCH plateaued in attendance from 2008 to 2013. The project director determined that FBCH needed a disciple-making strategy that led to multiplication and focused on transformation. The study was conducted among 35 priests and 65 non-clergy who congregate within 16 parishes of the diocese. Focus is laid on key factors leading to the actual movement of congregants from one church to another. Each of these factors is analyzed to show its impact on congregations' response to keeping within the fellowship(s). The challenge is then left to the church leaders at all levels to take up the recommendations as a way of reducing the incidence of church hopping."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720871935344640,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:12:52.265Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:41:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:22:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"de20e772-7d3e-45c0-99a2-79b9ba0d5fd4","accessControl_ssim":["f60dd4dc-4ad8-424a-9b67-c63c94fb113c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Holy Spirit gift activation, mentoring and leadership training to increase church attendance and godly commitment in emerging adults"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:41:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:29:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f579d59f-67e7-4cd8-84e8-e2fd5d72e6c2"],"hasLease_ssim":["f7a22adf-7ab9-4ef5-a070-4a53cfca8a5a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Peter Bellini"],"year_tesim":["2015"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Nina M Thompson"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Commitment to the church","Non-church-affiliated people","Youth--Religious life","Church work with youth","Church attendance"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["In 2000, research showed that nearly one-quarter of people ages 18-29 described their religion as 'none.' The project challenges many of the traditional attitudes and approaches that pastors and congregation leaders have undertaken in ministry to inactives."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis, MO)"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c233458a-014a-46a2-aa34-c5309c85f7e6"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720498438864896,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:06:56.071Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:07:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:11:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bcc59af2-ed38-4f22-8265-ff91d06eef77","accessControl_ssim":["a79bbf50-d28d-4f9f-84f2-f577b743cbf5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The doors of the church are re-opened: identifying socio-theological clues for helping African American men 30-40 years old back to the church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:07:57Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:34:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7d8e9886-2be2-4155-add5-8fa9380b7e55"],"hasLease_ssim":["da49212f-6289-4b96-adfe-af7c1e919277"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Biblical Seminary in New York"],"advisor_tesim":["Horace O Russell"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Arthur R White"],"keyword_tesim":["Religious surveys"],"publisher_tesim":["Biblical Seminary in New York"],"subject_tesim":["African Americans","Church history","Church attendance","African American men"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Doors of the church are re-opened: identifying socio-theological clues for helping African American men thirty to forty years-old back to the church"],"abstract_tesim":["African American men are in significant decline in the African American church. The researcher engaged the qualitative research design methods of descriptive survey questionnaires and group interviews in order to identify possible socio-theological reasons. The study included three groups of ten African American men: one group was African American men, 30-40 years old, who never attended church except for childhood exposures; another was a group of African American men, 30-40 years old, who attended church but stopped within the last ten years; and the third group was African American men who stayed in church over the last forty to fifty years. The results were analyzed by content and comparative content analysis as well as cross referenced with previous research results from church theologians and social science scholars. The socio-theological reasons identified are: a felt tension in his ontology related to stress on/from familial and ecclesiastical relationships and from the effect of urbanicity and region on his ontological, familial and ecclesiastical relationships. Additional church needs to be done on each of these socio-theological clues."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129205741715456,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:12:00.881Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:44:24Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:03:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cc9db88d-cbe8-425b-b854-054e6c8f44ee","accessControl_ssim":["851cd276-d490-4275-aacc-20e9e3b33bc1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Church growth and the small congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:44:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:00:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["db114018-aa78-4f75-849f-618ee62ef458"],"hasLease_ssim":["b94c3fad-561c-4adb-9fa2-3d33c00718c6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James C Logan"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
