The project director researched church revitalization, data gathered from surveys conducted with the congregation, and studied demographic data about the Mossy Head community. Furthermore, he consulted with recognized experts in the church revitalization field, especially utilizing the assistance available from the Florida Baptist Convention for interpreting data, formulating strategy, research, and evaluating the processes. Time, space, and money utilization was analyzed against attendance. Research showed that the church closely reflects neighborhood demographics. Most ministry occurs Sunday mornings. Adults receive sixty percent of resources. Through a resident school and community center, the church serves at-risk children and youth. The teen-agers in its own outreach program receive five times the per capita resources spent on its elementary-aged children. The report recommends that more resources be directed to children. This project considers one congregation's exercise in experiential learning, from within their context, that promoted the church's missional discernment and community life.  Nine congregational members joined with the outside researcher to form a community-based action research team. The consultant assists local pastors in Lancaster, South Carolina, to develop a team ministry approach within each fellowship. Chapter 2 shows a biblical basis for a team ministry. This chapter builds upon the Old Testament ministry of Elijah, Moses, Jethro, and the New Testament teachings of Jesus and the Apostle Paul. Chapter 3 is based upon team development as it is developed in the business world. Attention is given to how the business world succeeds in the development of teams. Chapter 4 is the consultant's project for helping pastors develop a team ministry within their congregations. 'A Path for Team Development' was created by the consultant to accomplish this task. Chapter 5 concludes with an analysis of the project. this chapter is an evaluation of the successes and failures for each church in the study. In the research project nine consultant interventions were developed and then evaluated by clergy and laity.  The researcher concludes that consultants can express their ecclesiological position to client congregations as long as this nurtures the consulting relationship.  He proposes that congregational support for baptismal ministry can be ethically influenced through personal self-disclosure by the consultant and a mutual exploration of ecclesiology. The outlines include an introduction to prison ministry, a means to identify and evaluate mission outreach programs, and the development of a mission outreach profile necessary for the examination of 'points of entry' for prison ministry. Churches that were declining appeared to have similar program and ministry dynamics. Likewise, churches that were growing numerically seemed to share administrative and programmatic traits. Desiring to maintain a balance between the church's call to evangelism and its need to nurture and care for its members, the author established a model of consultation that would assist congregations to consider what their call to ministry might be at that time in history.  This project-thesis is the test of the effectiveness of the model.  Results have been very positive.  The information about the nature of Christian ministry and the permission given to churches to choose their course of ministry appear to be strengths of the model. The churches are more informed about the biblical and denominational directives for church growth.
