To that end, the purpose of this study was to discover the process by which recent converts became Christians and connected to local churches in thoroughly secular suburban settings. Following a qualitative research method, along with the constant comparative method, eight recent converts were interviewed. Over a hundred church planter wives from a variety of denominations voluntarily completed a survey about their ministry contributions and six key factors. The survey exposed how the wife of the church planter is considerably involved with her husband's mission to start a new church, and her ministry contributions were especially influenced by her sense of God's calling and her employment status. The study looked at how the planter and plant were affected by the leader's vocational status. The literature review is comprised of relevant church planting literature, literature concerning work and the interplay of vocation, and the history of the Irish Presbyterian Church. For the purpose of qualitative research, ten planters and five others participated in informal semi-structured interviews. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with eight pastors and some spouses. The interviews focused on how church planting impacts the planters, spouses and their marriages. Evidence of church decline is already being observed by concerned African leaders in the church. With particular reference to the church in Nigeria, the peculiar nature of church decline and death here is very different from what obtains in the West. It is more of qualitative than quantitative; and it could go unnoticed, except with careful observation. The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry Project is to revitalize a daughter church of Newlife Baptist Church through a process of leadership training. Like Apostle Paul did, experience also shows that it is better to start revitalizing churches while they are still young and malleable, rather than wait till they begin to suffer decline and death. Churches that are given the opportunity of regular re-development have greater chances of being healthy and reproducing healthy churches with time. The selected leaders of Newlife Baptist Church that were intensively trained (and that already have the responsibility of overseeing her several daughter churches) had a Renewal Weekend organized with the daughter church used for this project (New Creation Baptist Church). The purpose is to begin a revitalization process with this church. The mixed methods research approach was utilized, revealing realistic expectations, a stewardship plan, leadership development plan, and planter peer group all assisted a church transition. Successful churches evangelized adults aged 19-30 and had at least 100 people in attendance by year three. They recognized developed organizational systems and implemented a stewardship development plan that created a culture of giving that became apparent by year three. (1) A consistent, vertically-integrated ministry that recognizes the 'in Christ' relationship as sons/daughters of God and purposefully structures the church to foster that relationship in order to see life change (Christ-likeness). (2) The horizontal mutuality that exists between fellow believers in Christ and how that relationship fosters spiritual growth.
