Weaknesses inherited from the Presbyterian tradition regarding the evangelization of children are defined and alternatives reflecting Scripture and Reformed doctrine are substituted. The intention of this program was that accountability to discipleship can be responsibly addressed within the pluralistic context of First Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio, a downtown church. This program was implemented by developing an 'Adult Discipleship Plan' for the church; offering small discipleship bi-weekly groups for nine months, one overnight retreat, and a training event for church decision-makers; and relating worship themes. The author, in cooperation with a team of associates, established a purpose for the television ministry, evaluated feedback about it and helped shape the program accordingly.  Research included viewer surveys, theological reflection and evaluation by the associates. The author began with a biblical apologetic for numerical growth. Then he analyzed five theological-spiritual and ten sociological factors that could enhance growth.  The author investigated four urban, neighborhood churches in accordance with the above factors, through questionnaires, statistical and historical records, and personal observation.
